Clifton Dykes Highways Improvements
Clifton Community Council have been working with Westmorland and Furness Highways to address concerns of residents in Clifton Dykes over speeding vehicles through the 40mph zone.
Due to the low number of properties along the C3047 through Clifton Dykes further speed reductions are not currently an option the highways authority can consider for the section of road.
To address the highways safety concerns of members of the community measures to clearly mark the 40mph limits and signage to clearly mark junctions and hidden dips along the road will be installed along with new road markings to help encourage drivers to reduce speed in the 40mph zone.
Plans will include the removal of existing speed limit terminal signs and install new Gateway Signage on both sides of the C3047.
Alongside new junction warning and hidden dip signs and national Cycle route signs will be installed along with new traditional fingerpost directional signage along the road.
New road markings will be put in place along with dragon’s teeth markings at the gateway points to Clifton Dykes.
Clifton Community Council will be considering the plans at our February meeting and invite members of the community who would like to give any input on the plans to attend the councils meeting, an opportunity will be provided for members of the public to speak on the plans during the meeting. Alternatively, you can email any comments to Clifton Community Council before the meeting on the 13th February 2025.
Below are design plans for the implementation of the measures through Clifton Dykes
